Jeff Foster has been actively involved in our community and has a variety of unique experiences that have instilled in him important character traits for a Superior Court Judge. Jeff is the father of 7 children, has two grandchildren, and has consistently been active as youth soccer coach, and as a teacher and leader in his church. Jeff’s community involvement has been as varied as his broad legal and judicial background. Jeff investment in our community has included the following:
*Incorporated, served as Chairman of the of the Board, and then fostered children through the agency Uniting Hope for Children, eventually adopting the 3 youngest of his 7 children.
*Director of Rescue Ministries for the Ministry Village, responsible for coordinating and working with clients in Project Jump Start, a full-time position that Jeff held while still managing affairs at his law firm
* Created and led the Faith & Justice Project, providing free legal services to families in crisis.
*Regular team leader and member of the Board of Directors for Belief in Motion, a Loganville-based missions organization in western Romania
*Served on the Board of Directors of the Christian Learning Centers of Walton.
*Served on the Board of Directors of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Walton.
From many trips working with the impoverished, marginalized and racially segregated Roma people (commonly referred to as “gypsies”) in Romania, to a legal services ministry, to directing programs to help folks facing chronic housing instability and underemployment, to foster care and adoption, Jeff has learned to set aside preconceived ideas about people or people groups, and approach each person as an individual.
Jeff Foster believes firmly, and is intentional about demonstrating, that each person should be treated with a level of respect and dignity, regardless of how they look, who their family is, their economic status, or even how terrible their actions may have been. He strives to always remember that, “…there but for the grace of God go I”, and to impress that idea upon all working within the legal system.
Whether law enforcement, administrative support, lawyers or judges, participants in the legal system must rise above the unsavory conduct or opinions of others and demonstrate the dignified and respectful manner in which all should be treated. Jeff knows personally, and can live out his belief, that each person should be respected, have their struggles and concerns heard, and must ultimately be responsible for the decisions and choices they make. Jeff Foster has the knowledge of our community and the experience to ensure the citizens of Newton and Walton Counties, and the parties before him in the Superior Courts of the Alcovy Circuit, will be afforded dignity, respect, treated as individuals and held accountable.
