Even before graduating from the University of Georgia School of Law, Jeff worked in Newton and Walton Counties as an intern in the District Attorney’s Office, and is the only candidate to have had offices in both counties. Over the next nearly 28 years, Jeff gained unmatched experience in the Alcovy Circuit. No candidate for Superior Court has the breadth of experience Jeff Foster has.
He is the only candidate who has presided as judge for over 10 years in criminal and civil hearings and trials.
Jeff is the only candidate who has conducted jury trials prosecuting and defending serious felony cases involving murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and burglary and kidnapping. Jeff has been the lead investigative and prosecuting attorney responsible for wire-taps in drug cases, and pursuit of R.I.C.O claims.
Only Jeff Foster has handled hundreds of hearings and trials in domestic relations cases such as divorce, child custody and adoption.
Domestic Relations and Criminal Cases account for 80% of the Superior Court workload.
Jeff is the only candidate who has handled trials and hearings as Judge, Prosecutor, Defense Attorney, and as a private civil practice attorney.
Jeff has conducted dozens of jury trials, litigated roughly 1000 hearings or bench trials, and has been involved in numerous appellate matters, which have resulted in over a dozen published opinions.
Jeff has experience handling and litigating a wide array of civil matters, including:
Adoptions, breach of contract, child support, construction defects, custody, divorce, actions in equity, fraud and fraudulent conveyances, probate and estate proceedings, title to real property, shareholder derivative suits and dissolution of businesses, violations of the Trade Secrets Act, and zoning.
Jeff has litigated cases in the Probate, Magistrate, Municipal, State and Superior Courts of Georgia, as well has having presented matters before the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia. Jeff has also handled cases in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the Middle District of Georgia.
Jeff has been an instructor for the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education at the University of Georgia, teaching on 4th amendment law and search warrants.
